| Old Song / New Lyrics One of our favorite games to play here at Old MacDonald’s Farm is Old Song/New Lyrics. It’s a game where we make up new words to some of our favorite songs like “She’ll be coming around the Mountain” or “Old MacDonald” or “Bingo” It’s a great way to spend time in the car, work on creative thinking, storytelling, even spelling. Here’s a couple of examples to get you started: SHE’LL BE COMIN’ AROUND THE MOUNTAIN Let’s find out more about this mysterious “She”. Start by asking questions. Where is “she” coming from? What is “she” wearing? What is “she” eating? What will you do when “She” gets there? After you come up with the answers put them into the song. Your new version might look like this. She’ll be comin’ here from Jersey when she comes She’ll be wearing yellow flippers when she comes She’ll be eating fresh bologna And we’ll all go scuba diving She’ll be comin’ here from Jersey when she comes OLD MACDONALD We all know Old Mac Donald Had a Farm. But what if this entrepreneur also had a Park or a Stage or even a Band? What objects/people might he find at these places and what sounds would they make? BINGO Everybody’s favorite dog and a terrific way to reinforce simple spelling words. Just change a few lyrics. There was a farmer had a friend and Dusty was his name oh DUSTY, DUSTY, DUSTY and Dusty was his name oh There is a person in this car and Sarah is her name oh SARAH, SARAH, SARAH and Sarah is her name oh.
